The Stelzer family reached out just a couple of weeks before autumn was about to get into full swing. They were looking to have a hanbok family photo session and wanted to incorporate Korea’s traditional architecture and some of the autumn leaves. Autumn was a little unpredictable this year, but we got lucky with some beautiful colours and a cloudy day to accentuate them. Starting under the autumn canopy, we spent some time playing in the leaves and giving Alexander some time to warm up. Then we moved inside the palace to capture some of the beautiful architecture with the family’s soft-toned hanboks.
I was told that Alexander was quite shy around new people so we kept our session very casual, with lots of our location choices simply being down to where Alexander wanted to be. But, Seoul’s palaces are stunning and so photographs can be found anywhere. Following the little man as he explored his new surroundings was a lot of fun. We had to chase him up and down ramps, praise all of the rocks that he picked up along his way, and take breaks to refuel so we could do it all again.
In the end, we got a great mix of candid and posed shots and I’m really happy with how they turned out. I can’t wait to work with the Stelzer family again over the coming year. Thanks a lot for a great session, guys. See you soon!
